Tattler - Day 3
Last night's BBQ was a great evening with beautiful weather, good food and the best people. Thanks to Richard Ricca for cooking the steak and fish and those that supplied the salads.
Goombay Hookers were once again the best dressed.

Colin you have glasses around your neck!

Neil's main concern was checking over the stats with Steven while others relaxed with a beer, chatted or hung around at the bar.

Nitin was finally finished with work and could join his teammates and meet the rest of the anglers before fishing the final two days.

The kids enjoyed dinner as much as everybody else.

And as the sunset the evening wound down, with some anglers heading home to do tackle work before the 3rd day of fishing.

The start of day 3 was absolutely beautiful. Foxy & The Stiff Rods, with Richard back fishing headed west from Rosemont and SHAC once again left from SPBC.

The Three Reel Anglers were on Albatross; surely glad it was a calm day. They came armed with a kite but there may not be enough wind. They sure looked smart this morning.

Playmate docked at the South dock and took on Two DW Squared. You're getting earlier every day Brian.

Reel Hot may have been early to take BAC on board but David was the last one to arrive at 6.20 giving Eric time to enjoy his breakfast before they headed out.

As Playmate and Reel Hot headed to the rendezvous point Reel Addiction could finally come in and pick up Goombay Hookers who where the first team to arrive on the dock. They were more than ready to hop aboard.

A quick hand over of rubber bands and all boats were on their way by 6.30.

All the boats took advantage of the nice weather and head to the banks, which meant a long ride home with the first boat Albatross coming in just before 5pm. Reports are that the water is changing colour and the shearwaters are around as SHAC and BAC found out, maybe they need to be a new species for the tournament.
Three Reel Anglers weighted in 4 wahoo with Scott getting a 14.2lb and a 21.7lb, David's were in between at 17.4lb and 18.2lb, Aron managed a 12.9lb Dolphin. They also managed to release 7 blackfin, making them 3rd for the day and David 2nd place angler for the day, unfortunately they are still bottom overall.

SHAC arrived second on Overproof, as they had to make a fuel spot. Nitin first day out and he managed to boat a 15.2lb wahoo and released a yellowfin and blackfin. David Ross also released a blackfin and weighted a skipjack - 13.9lb. Fiona showed the boys how it's done and weighed a 34.8lb yellowfin, which was a contender for high point fish for the day. She also released a blackfin. Their standing for the day was 2nd and 3rd overall. Nitin was 3rd for the day.

Goombay Hookers on Reel Addiction where third home with Wayne Russell getting one blackfin release, Colin fish for the day was 16.5lb wahoo, while Jamie managed to release to blacks and weigh two wahoo - 12.3lb and 16.4lb. Unfortunately they were bottom for the day but 984 points a head of Three Reelers in 5th place.

This doesn't seem to be Foxy & The Stiff Rods year; Peter Rans helped to put their fish on the dock as Mega Bucks tied up along side his boat. Danny only got a blackfin release; Richard landed a 26lb wahoo and 22.4 barracuda. Wayne Booth boated a 17lb almaco and took a chance on a world record gray snapper but only tipped the scales at 9.6lb. They were 4th for the day just 3 points a head of the Hookers. Overall they are in 4th, 41 points a head of... yes the Hookers! I guess that marlin you bought Wayne wasn't hot or maybe you're keeping it for tomorrow.

It was great to have 5 of the boats at dock for a brief time as well as the newest members of the club. John & Sue Ringold's twin boys.

Two DW Squared on Playmate had a pretty good hall for the day with 12 tuna releases between and only Brian landing a 20lb and a 49.5lb yellowfin. This was now the high point fish for the day as long as BAC didn't arrive with something bigger.

They managed to be 1st for the day and are now 2nd overall 1663 behind the top team and Brian was high rod for the day.
Finally Reel Hot arrived with the BAC after also having to spot for fuel, accord to one source - upon dipping his fuel tank and finding it bone dry - Nick sensibly decided to stop at Boaz Island to make sure we had enough fuel to make the weigh-in. Of course it might have been a bit more farsighted to check the fuel level yesterday before setting out for Argus thismorning, but we all made it back eventually.

They had a pretty good day with 11 releases overall. As well as racking up points on blackfin releases Eric, with a new nickname "the Red Hot", also caught a shearwater on the troll. Accord to my source they were happily trolling along when Eric noticed his outrigger line was at a rather strange angle - upward sloping instead of down toward the water. Yup - there was a shearwater acting like a fishing kite hooked on Eric's line.If only we had thought to put a release clip on the line and hung a flyer we might have caught some of the big tunas we saw jumping. David brought home a 13.4lb wahoo and a stinky 14.3 cuda.
The team was 4th for they day but remain the overall high point team with 6,869 points. Eric is high rod overall with Danny in 2nd just under 500 behind. Watch your back Eric; Danny is going to be gunning for you. Brian is only 131 behind Danny and am sure he would like to retain his title.
Playmate was top boat for the day and remains top overall, Keith mustta left horseshoes on the boat.
Boats heading out today.

Shearwater joy! This was Fiona's brush with the pesky birds.
